Use Words that Encourage Happiness

“Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” ~Mark Twain

In this week’s installment of 30 30-Day Challenges You Can Start Now to Motivate Your Work and Life, inspired by Marc and Angel, our challenge is to Use words that encourage happiness!

Our lives are filled with a lot of negativity on daily basis. And it’s very easy to get bogged down in that negativity without even realizing it. Marc uses the example of when you ask someone, “How are you?” they typically respond with, “I’m fine” or “I’m okay” in relatively unaffected tone. When someone replied to him, “Oh, I am fabulous!” he was taken aback, but it made him smile. When someone seems filled with that level of positivity it can be encouraging to those around him or her. Just changing your rote response when someone asks, “How are you?” can make a small positive change and even make someone smile.

Imagine what could happen if you took it one step further and said something nice about the work someone has done? Everyone likes to hear that they are doing a good job, especially if it’s something they do every day and seems to go unnoticed.

Why not spend the next 30 days using words that encourage a smile?
